Award-winning, bestselling author Karen Rose Smith writes romance straight from the heart when single mom (former wild child) Laura Sanders meets conservative businessman Mitch Riley and sparks fly!
WISH ON THE MOON is a contemporary romance with family subplots, originally published for Silhouette Books under the pseudonym Kari Sutherland.
Laura Applegate Sanders' world is turned upside down when Mitch Riley appears on her doorstep with the news her estranged father is about to undergo heart bypass surgery. For the past few years, Mitch has been her father's partner in the jewelry business Laura once dreamed of sharing--until her father disowned her when she married Doug Sanders, an artist with no money and few prospects.
Mitch loves and respects Laura's father as he never could his own. His dad was a drunkard and a gambler who died leaving his wife and two sons destitute when Mitch was fourteen. Knowing how much it would mean to Ray Applegate to see his daughter again, Mitch takes it upon himself to travel to Ohio to ask Laura to come home. To his surprise, he learns she is a widow with a four-year-old daughter, Mandy.
Mitch is prepared to dislike Ray's rebellious daughter because of the pain she caused Ray. But when he meets her, she surprises him. So does the sizzle between them. But Mitch has been betrayed in the past. His lack of trust in Laura causes him to back away to the old life that has left him alone. Can he forget the past and reach for true love?

10 of 11 people found the following review helpful: ![]() This review is from: Wish On The Moon (Kindle Edition) KRS has witten a fast-paced romance with lots of emotion--something she's great at doing. I enjoyed the "father" and "trust" themes running throughout the book. Mitch and Laura were interesting, well-developed characters. A satisfying, enjoyable read. 11 of 13 people found the following review helpful: ![]() This review is from: Wish On The Moon (Kindle Edition) Ms. Smith's romances have a lot of family situations surrounding the romance. That makes them seem real. She does a great job with this one from Mitch's brother who was a gambler to his mom who has a reading problem. And watching the heroine's relationship with her dad heal is best of all. Great romance. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: ![]() By Gem (West Michigan, United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Wish On The Moon (Kindle Edition) I liked this story very much. We all grow up with our own baggage from our childhood. How we handle it as adults is what makes us. I understand Mitch Riley working hard to overcome what happened in his childhood and building walls to keep out everything including love. This is about conflict and a struggle to forgive ...and what happens when the walls we build around ourselves start to crumble. Definitely worth reading. |
